Hair Resources UPDATED

When it comes to help with hair, the best known resource is Amy Bunger's "How'd You Do That?" DVD on stitching hair and beards.

UPDATE:  I forgot a snippet of this DVD is on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.  It'll give you a flavor of what Amy has to say about hair and beards.

I like to look at my copy of "Beards I Have Known" for hair ideas.  This little booklet by Diana Bosworth is all about beards for Santa, but that curly beard can easily be turned into a curly hair cut for a little boy on a needlepoint canvas.

If you happen to have a copy of Suzanne Howren and Beth Robertson's "New Twists on Needlework Embellishment" lying around, it has a couple of good hair tips, although hair is only touched on briefly.

Anyone else know of good places for hair stitches and ideas?

Pocket Full of Stitches showcases the cute little pinwheel canvas kits from What's the Point on their blog.  The especially sharp-eyed will see there's also a sneak preview of the May 2011 Needlepoint Now magazine.

Amanda Lawford Music Boxes

Amanda Lawford Designs now has music boxes that have spaces for various canvases in the lids.  You can see them here, along with a selection of canvases that fit.  Clicking on any thumbnail tells you a bit more about each box (including a photograph of the inside) as well as the melody it plays.

There are also boxes that don't play music.

Sadly there isn't any information about these boxes on the Amanda Lawford website yet but I am sure Annie and Co. can answer questions if you are interested in one of these.
