Goodbye to Edie

If you've been stitching a while you probably have seen a canvas by Edie and Ginger.  They came up with the frog-shaped frame weight, and have a huge range of ageless designs that range from their large and beautiful fairy tale canvases, to classic Victorian themed Christmas stockings, to fun things like their London bus door stop or the iconic glasses cases patterns they produced.  Edie and Ginger gave us a legacy of wonderful designs that needlepointers will be stitching as long as we can get our hands on the canvases.  They set the standard in their day and the death of Edie Dockray on November 16 was the end of an important era in the World of Needlepoint.  I hope you'll join me in honoring their contribution to our art.

CBK Designs owns and distributes the Edie and Ginger designs now.  You can do a little browsing on their website to enjoy once again what Edie and Ginger did.

Framing Tips

Trish Burr's beautiful embroideries usually end up being framed since they are needle painted portraits of plants and animals (especially birds) and occasionally people.  She has decided to share her framing tips with her blog readers. I thought those of you thinking about framing a piece would enjoy reading her opinions on what looks best, even if not everything she says applies to us.  (Needlepointers rarely wash their work before framing it.)
