Sheena has decided to do a fun Advent Calendar-type giveaway on her blog starting December 1. It's the twenty-four days of Christmas, folks! There is a prize each day for the first person to answer Sheena's question correctly. This starts December 1, which is tomorrow. Hopefully it will cheer your countdown until December 25!

UPDATE: Sheena has a great idea for using your extra needle magnets on an Advent tray.

Scissor Envy
Mary Agens shows off her embroidery scissors. It got me thinking about my scissors. I have 6-8 pairs, mostly gifts, but I have two that I adore. They are Japanese made with fake tortoise shell handles and are as sharp as whiz. One size is a bit smaller than the other. I hoard them like gold and keep them in my tool case instead of using them. Silly me, but I can't bear losing one of having them become dull with use! Wish I knew who made them.

The Newest in Counted Canvaswork
Fans of counted needlepoint have cause to rejoice! Laura Perin has just released a new set of four Christmas ornament designs called "Jewel Ornaments." These are in shades of red and green, but not quite the traditional Christmas reds and greens. However, you can stitch them in any colors you prefer.

If you are curious about Laura's other two Holiday Ornaments sets, here is Holiday Ornaments #1, based on traditional quilt patterns.

Here is Holiday Ornaments #2, which I couldn't find on Laura's website. This also uses quilt patterns.

On the other hand, if you love Bargello and counted, then Liz Morrow has answered your prayers. She has a new design, so new it doesn't have a name yet. As usual, she plans to do other colors as she refines the instructions for this new beauty. Stitch faster, Liz!
