Odd. I got it to work for me well before I posted the link. Now it demands a subscription for me, too. I tried Google and found two other links to the same story. I don't know if they will work for you or not. Obviously, they may not work for me the next time either. Here's the first--http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/burr-ridge/news/ct-dhd-gallery-needleworks-store-tl-1119-2-20151113-photogallery.html
Here is the second link. I know newspapers are going under but demanding a subscription to read even one story is a bit much. http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/burr-ridge/news/ct-dhd-gallery-needleworks-store-tl-1119-2-20151113-photogallery.html
I was able to see the pics on the second link, but was asked to subscribe on the other links, so could not read the story. If anyone is interested, I am planning on writing a fairly long post on the current challenges facing needlepoint B&Ms, which will include a summary of the response I received from the TNNA regarding certain issues (that IMHO are contributing to industry instability) that I recently wrote to them about. Look for it next week on my little ole blog, needlepointland.com. I plan to articulate (from my personal perspective of course) what the needlepoint retail landscape actually looks like from the point of view of a small brick and mortar shop owner, located in fairly well-to-do part of Florida, where, sad to say, another needlepoint shop is about to close.
Thanks for the heads up, Erin. Your blog won't work with RSS readers which is how I read blogs rather than chasing a ton of bookmarks, so I wouldn't have known to look for it.
Hi Jane, Hmmm, I think the following URL should work nicely in terms of RSS http://needlepointland.com/feed/ however, I have it set up to provide only an excerpt, so that viewers have 2 follow the link to the full text of a post, if they wish to read it. ;-)
The link to the Chicago Tribune was a bust. Because I would not subscribe, I could not read.
ReplyDeleteThe link to the shop is at least 4 years old with no mention of closing.

Jane, I was able to read the article. I just had to register, not subscribe...
ReplyDeleteStrange! I never got the option to register--just subscribe! Obvously the Trib hates me!

It's better than nothing! Thanks, Erin.
DeleteI found a way to read the story without registering. Just use Google cache.
