The cameo ornament is done! Truthfully it would have been done one day sooner if I hadn't spent several hours cleaning the stove and oven and my hands still smelled like oven cleaner despite the rubber gloves I wore. So I skipped stitching night before last and waited to assemble the ornament last night. It's gorgeous, by the way!
The knots in the cording are to shorten it slightly as it was a bit longer than I like. The assembly instructions were clear and the process easy and I am very happy with this. Many thanks to Gay Ann Rogers for rushing the instructions out to me so I could have it finished in plenty of time for Thanksgiving delivery.

ReplyDeleteA big thank you to everyone for the kind comments. This is a lovely design that works up quickly. It only took me a week to work it and one day I didn't do anything on it at all. Of course the nights I did work I put in 2-3 hours each but this is a quick stitch that isn't too difficult. Pierrette, you will love working this! I would encourage you to be careful if you use knots on the back that any for the Nun Stitches around the edge are well away from where you have to cut out the pieces before assembly. I also think that the congress cloth dulled my scissors. You have to use pretty sharp scissors to cut it out. I used a good pair but certainly not my best scissors.

Glad you like the color combinations, Ann. I thought sage green would set off the ecru and pink and silver threads I used. Redwork on sage green would be lovely!
ReplyDeleteThere is another cameo ornament and several sizes of samplers meant to display cameos that Gay Ann Rogers designed. You should browse them all before you decide, but this one is a fairly quick stitch and is very pretty.
