Counted Thread and Disaster Relief

First, the good news.  Carol has revealed a new design "Nile Jewels."  Very pretty!  I don't think it is actually available yet but you can leave a message for Carol on her blog to find out for sure.

I've always wanted to stitch a needle case and Cottage Garden Threads has released a pattern that evokes the cardboard needle sets you could buy with a design from the 1920-30s.  Very Clarice Cliff!

The bad news is the Vermont flooding in the wake of Hurricane Irene.  If you followed the making of the reproduction 17th Century jacket, you'll remember the gorgeous silk lining that came from a Vermont shop.  The shop's untouched (by inches!) but they still need customers, as does every shop in Vermont right now.  If you have contacts in Vermont, it's time to buy from them to help them over this disaster.

  1. You like Clarice Cliff too? I have some of her stuff, some original, some reproductions. I wish someone would make canvases out of her designs. They're so beautiful and colorful.

  2. Palma, I know I've seen Clarice Cliff canvases, perhaps from a British designer? Can't remember for sure and the online shop has changed hands and no longer has a website. Let me look....

There are some British cross stitch designs based on Clarice Cliff here. Search on her name to find them. Then search on Barbara Thompson and look at her Art Deco pieces to see more.

  3. Palma, these Melissa Shirley tea pots remind me of Clarice Cliff designs.
