UPDATE:  Erin has decided to do something about it, as a sort of test to see what Pinterest does when it gets complaints.

UPDATE #2:  Pinterest honored Erin's request.  Good for them!

  1. Hi Jane,
Just a few thoughts on the Pinterest issue (also not a fan...) All of the ire and hate directed towards Pinterest, is just a little mis-directed. When you sign up for a Pinterest account, you (as a user) specifically agree to only pin public domain, non-copyrighted pictures. Pinterest has sneakily (or not so sneakily) written their "terms of usage" agreements so the responsibility for mis-use falls squarely and securely on the shoulders of the person who "pins" a picture. I am honestly not certain what they do about policing, but the people who scan and post cross-stitch or counted thread designs are the culprit here. It boggles the mind that anyone thinks it is OK to put any chart or graph on a scanner bed for any reason. And they wonder why counted thread designers are either struggling or throwing in the towel and walking away...

    1. Good point, Don. I should say I don't like how Pinterest is misused, shouldn't I? It's about time I log into my Pinterest account and start looking for my photos that have been copied without permission again. Pinterest is said to take things down if you complain.

    1. True! I mostly forget about it until I hear about someone's designs showing up there.
