KC Needlepoint is selling a tool I haven't seen before. It's called The Unstitcher.
Basically it's a tapestry needle fitted into an easy to hold handle. Cut that first stitch you need to rip, then use the Unstitcher to gently lift the stitch off the canvas and out of the hole. Those who have been using a needle to do this may prefer the handled version. It'll be easier to manipulate.
