Happy (Halloween) Day! UPDATED

It's a happy day here in Chilly Hollow.  At last Jeff Kulick's Halloween piece is available as a chart!  I fell in love with this when it was on display at Woodlawn two years back, and I don't even like Halloween colors.   You can still see the photos they posted to their photo album of the original.

Jeff's a dynamite stitcher who likes designing his own pieces.  I hope this is just the first of many pieces he's stitched over the years made available to his fans.  Here's where you can order your chart plus some details of the threads needed.

Scarlet Thread helped Jeff chart the design and they've also posted a photograph of all the threads used since they sell the thread kit as well.  Many thanks to Karen for noticing this was ready.

Congratulations, Jeff! By the way, please please please chart Waterforms next.

UPDATE:  An interview with Jeff has just published on Scarlet Thread's blog.  It has a lot of photos of Jeff's work and gives a little insight into what drives his original designs.  Don't miss this chance to meet an original stitcher who just might have a big career charting designs for us ahead of him.

Melissa Shirley Moving Sale

Melissa Shirley is moving her design studio out of her house and into a building close by.  Of course when you move you toss things, right?  Melissa didn't throw canvases out, she sent photos of excess stock she didn't want to move to The Needlepointer who promptly put them all on sale.  There are 90+ items to see but it is first come, first served.  Let Needlepointer know what you want by 8 August and they'll arrange to get these from Melissa and send them on to you.

Isn't it fun to help folks move?

Inspiration Strikes and the Newsletter Hits UPDATED

I must be feeling aggressive today--all the titles that occurred to me mentioned blows.  Maybe you guys should back away from the computer screen a little?  LOL

Needle Works in Austin has released their August newsletter full of their Leigh trunk show (20% off) and classes and new products.  The stitch for this month is Double Stitch, last seen being used on some of the bushes in my cat topiary garden piece.  Needle Works not only diagrams the stitch, they diagram three variations of it that can be used for many interesting things.

UPDATE:  Amy Bunger's newsletter is available, too.  It's always fun and this month is no exception.

Laura Perin proves inspiration comes to a designer from many places by using the pattern on her shorts for a new Hawaiian-themed piece.  I think it is lovely.  Since I love the Big Island of Hawaii, I am waiting eagerly to see how this piece is finished.

Three Stitches: Interview

The Kreinik blog has done a great service today by interviewing the owner of 3 Stitches, a shop just outside of Houston, Texas I'd never heard of, on their blog. There's a link to their website so you can explore from afar if you don't happen to be in the neighborhood to drop in for a visit.
