Blog News and Updates

I've been working on updating Blog and the CH Stitch Guides blog quite a bit lately, so I thought I'd summarize what I've done.  First of all, the TNNA trade show in Columbus, Ohio starts June 21st so there are quite a few new items listed under the "TNNA COLUMBUS June 2013" tab.  Some of them are from folks who won't be at the Columbus show but new things just seem to collect at this area of Blog.  Click on the tab under the title header to see what's there, then click on the Home tab to come back here when you are ready.

I've also updated the tab that is called "Tutorials and Hints" with a few more tips on how to start/end threads invisibly.  This is very important when you are using light coverage stitches.

The Loretta Spears Archive has been updated with several eBay sales of Loretta's charts.  If you are a counted canvasworker, you'll want to look at this blog periodically, particularly if you are unfamiliar with Loretta's work or have a big stash of her charts that could help me with more information.

I update the "June Trunk Shows and Sales" section daily.  It's amazing how many sales there are at the various online shops.

I am considering reorganizing the "Monthly Clubs" section.  It is getting bigger and bigger all the time, so finding things is hard.  Do you have any ideas of how you'd like it organized?  I was thinking I'd group club types with the newest on top so that you could find Christmas-themed clubs, ones with Halloween items, etc.  Any other ideas about how best to handle this?  By the way, if a club I've listed there is no longer available, please let me know.  I don't have the time to check them as there are just too many, which is odd since I remember when clubs were only available from Pocket Full of Stitches and French Knot.  How times have changed!

In stitch guides news, Robin King has published a summary of all the Halloween canvases she currently has stitch guides for, and Cynthia Thomas is busy posting photos of the canvases she's done guides for on her "Cynthia Thomas" Facebook page.  I have also completed two more Leigh Designs guides for her Water Babies series (Fantine and Alta).  To visit the CH Stitch Guides blog, just click on the photo of the magic carpet on the right hand side of Blog.  To return here, click on the magic carpet again, and you will be transported back again.

Looking back on everything I've done this week, I wonder that I have any time to stitch at all!

Have fun browsing.

Ruth's June Newsletter (and New Book) UPDATED

Ruth Schmuff's June shop newsletter is out right on time, too.  I just waited a day so as not to overwhelm you with newsletters. After all, you want to savor each one!  The big news is that Ruth has a new book coming out.  I really like her Stitches CD series but this third volume will be released as hard copy and as an iPhone/iPad app only.  The newsletter also charts a wonderful stitch combo, talks about Ruth's mystery classes and shows off new canvases in Ruth's shop.  A fun read, for sure!

Sound Familiar?

I am on the Gone Stitching e-newsletter mailing list as I always enjoy learning what Renee and Michele are up to.
http://www.gonestitching.net

The latest newsletter had a story so good that I asked if I could share it with you and Michele said yes! The story is told by Renee but I bet it is a familiar one for many of us.  Renee starts out,  "Just when you think you know your spouse....

"Many of us who stitch think our significant other has not a clue as to what we are looking on, even that we are needlepointing is a revelation sometimes.  We sit in the same room with them at night, stitching away happily, and then 2 weeks later they ask, 'When did you do this?'  Does this scenario have a familiar ring?  The Bionic Woman has proved me wrong (at least at my house).  Let me explain...

"The 1970s are alive and well in my house since my husband has discovered The Bionic Man and The Bionic Woman on reruns on cable.  He loves these shows, it returns him to his youth.  We can ALL sing along to the theme music (you get the point).  This is my cue to exit stage left with my floor frame and canvas and go hide in the kitchen.  The other night I hear the theme music to The Bionic Woman and a few minutes later he is screaming, 'Renee, get up here QUICK!'

"I go running up the stairs, sure that he has fallen, has had a heart attack or some other terrible calamity.  I get through the door, out of breath, looking for his lifeless body...and he is sitting on the couch, with the remote in hand, with The Bionic Woman paused on the TV.  'You've got to watch this, Renee, you are not going to believe it but The Bionic Woman is needlepointing.'

"Sure enough, he replayed the beginning of the episode and Jamie Somers is sitting on her couch needlepointing.  He was so excited to share this with me, but what impressed me the most was his comment, 'See, even The Bionic Woman is working on a frame.'

"He really is paying attention."

Kandace Merric Online

I am very excited to tell you this morning that Kandace Merric, whose Pet Guardian angels were such a hit on Blog 4-5 years ago when we stitched them for the ANG Auction, has posted photographs of her work (most original designs featuring the Westies she works so hard to promote and protect) on the Facebook page for Needlepoint Nation.   I hope you can see these even if you don't have a FB account because Kandy's original work is amazing.

To see more versions of her Pet Guardian Angel series (featured in Needlepoint Plus magazine years ago) just type Pet Guardian Angels in the search box in the upper left hand corner of Blog.
