Gimme Gimme!

Are you a silk fiend? Then you will want to browse Hedgehog Handwork's website to admire the Gilt Sylke Twist, the Silk Collection (assortments of silks and metallics in various shades), and more.  Until August 12th, the website is offering free shipping within the United States.

They have things it is hard to find anywhere else, particularly if you need metal threads.

More about Art versus Craft

To add to yesterday's discussion of art versus craft, please read what Rosalyn has to say about Anna Marie Salehar's work at the top of Stitchamaze's Stitch Talk Column.  I agree that art is all about emotion and when I see how stitchers choose painted canvases to collaborate with the designer on, I know they pick pieces that resonate with their own emotions and lives.  That really is art, isn't it?

Visiting Needlework All Over England

Kathy has been to Hampton Palace visiting the Royal School of Needlework on a trip to England from her current home base of Berlin. Her report makes me feel like I walked through those gates with her and met crewel enthusiasts from all over the world who are studying there.

Then she went to the Queen's Gallery to see an exhibit of costume in art.  If you are interested in Elizabethan costume you are going to be enthralled with her report.

She's also been to the Victoria and Albert Museum.  Follow the link to see great close ups of the embroidery she saw there.
