This morning I have some wonderful pieces on display by their proud designers. Let's start with Barbara Bergsten's wonderful show of finished Lily Pultizer-style shift needlepoint pieces. Barbara's customers have done done her proud!

Next are the terrific models from Eye Candy which Needle Works displayed in their shop during a trunk show by Ada Hayden. Charmed? Click on the Eye Candy title at the top of the page and start exploring. Ada often posts great photos of her finished pieces.

My final treat is a slide show of the many rug designs Jan at Thread Medley has adapted to needlepoint over the years. Word Press won't let me comment to beg her to leave the slide show up, so I will post this right away so you don't miss the show.

Pour your favorite beverage and linger at the above for a while. There is a lot to see, enjoy and analyze. Better than an art show!

Needle Felting Embellishers
Labels:
needle felting
Thanks to this post from Rachel, I discovered there are wool felting machines called "embellishers" available. To me they look like a sewing machine with one of those Clover needle felting tools with multiple needles replacing the sewing machine needle. Since needle felting is of interest to needlepointers, here is what I found out.

This is one brand in action. I have to admit I don't think these will work for needlepoint canvases but you might disagree. There are 12 needles, by the way.

If you want to learn more, here's a bit about the various felting machines.

Beyond Stitch Diagrams

Debbie Rowley of DebBee Designs has started a series aimed at helping stitchers figure out how to work a stitch. Have you ever looked at a stitch diagram that wasn't numbered and wonder how on earth the stitch should be made? What order do you work the stitches that make up a stitch unit? How do you move to the next unit? Is this stitch worked left to right, top to bottom, on the diagonal? Debbie will try to take the mystery out of stitches so that you can work them with more confidence the next time you have a stitch diagram in front of you.

Debbie also talks about how to do cross stitches "over two" which is particularly pertinent to those who do traditional cross stitch.
