Over at Melissa's House UPDATED AGAIN

Carolyn Hedge Baird has a special treat for us today in her series of houses and their needlepoint--she's taking us to visit Melissa Shirley at home!  For those of you who don't know, Melissa lives in the Sierra Madre Mountains* Sierra Nevada Mountains in an old California Gold Rush town that now houses many artists, not just needlepoint ones.

Sue at Woodlawn

Sue sent two pieces to Woodlawn this year and came home with two ribbons! Congratulations!  You can see her work better by clicking on the little photos.  It is terrific to be able to see some of the wonderful work sent there online.

The Magic of Needles

Thanks to Susan, I have a short video about how needles are made for you this morning.

Not all needles are made this way.  Japanese Embroidery needles were hand made.

Sadly, the gentleman who made JE needles, famous for their round eyes, has died and his craft has died with him.  His needles live on, however, at least for now.
