Emma's Darling Bird UPDATED

Ruth Schmuff has started Kimberly's darling bird canvas as the next mystery in her ongoing mystery class series.  Naturally, Ruth being Ruth and pretty durn inventive, she is doing an interesting random patterned background based on a pretty floral stitch from Brenda Hart.  I love it!

The bird is mostly stitched, the purple scrolls are done, and Ruth has started on the border and the little flowers.

Now Ruth is almost finished.  Look at the little flowers (and the big ones)!

I can't wait to see more of this charmer.  Stay tuned!  I'll update this article when the next class appears.  If you want to join the fun, visit Ruth's shop website.

Jenny Henry Designs has reworked her cute "Red Cassette" canvas into a wristlet or wallet for her customers.  Tara's instructions are easy to follow if you want to try this at home with either her design or another of similar size.

Here's the Jenny Henry website if you want to check out the original Red Cassette or see other similar pieces.  Most of Jenny Henry designs have to be ordered via a shop, but the second link below is to the Etsy page where Tara sells some little kits (coasters, jewelry, magnets and the Red Cassette kit).

I Need Buttons and Charms. Do You?

If you happen to love adding buttons, charms and fancy beads or trims (or all of the above) to your stitching, or you just happen to need something very special for a piece, you will have to talk to Carolyn Hedge Baird at Chaparral.  I heard someone in the peanut gallery ask, "Why?"  Here's why!

I don't know about you, but I'm lusting after that bunny button, the one with wings!  If you need any of these type things, here's Chaparral's contact information.

If you need a personal consultation, I suggest you use Carolyn's Facebook page (look for Needlepointing in Your Nest, that's Carolyn) to get in touch.  Browse her photo albums to see the huge range of what is available.  No drooling on the keyboard!
