There's a new Tab on Blog this morning--Classes, Retreats, Seminars and Events. Lots and lots of people want to know what's happening in the world of needlepoint so I decided I'd start listing these items. If you know of things I don't, please let me know. There are more things to do than any one person can keep up with!

Achieving Dimension in Needlepoint UPDATED
Ruth Schmuff's latest mystery class (Shelly Penko's "Bohemian Beauty") was never my favorite design. I found the original too amorphous. What are all those blobs of color? I can't stitch something if I don't know what it is. That's just a quirk of mine. Give me a canvas with blobs on it and I am lost.
Ruth isn't. She uses various sizes and colors of stitches to define the areas and bring some forward while letting others recede. She made "Bohemian Beauty" gorgeous!

If you are trying to achieve dimension in your stitching, you need to study Ruth's mystery piece carefully. Here are links to photos that can be enlarged.
