Mary Corbet has been researching the Wemyss School of Needlework in Fife a little. I think you'll enjoy the photos, particularly of the strands of wool ready for use and the Berlin woodwork type charts on the walls.

Friday Finishing: Repurposing and Ribbons
Terry Dryden just got a photo of one of her class pieces for a pillow roll stitched and made up into a darling tote bag. Isn't this lovely?!

I am always amazed when a stitcher takes a design and makes it up into something totally different than the original model. It's another way to personalize your stitching to suit yourself and your lifestyle.
By the way, Diane just found a wonderful online source for quality ribbons, which is very important for those who do their own finishing.

Two other sources I know of are Mindy's Needlepoint Factory and Chaparral Needlepoint, whose Carolyn Hedge Baird stocks a nice collection of ribbons and trims for finishing.

Friday Finishing - Don't Do It Yourself Edition
Labels:

Summer Truswell
Just as a reminder for those of us who do not do our own finishing, there is a lot behind the scenes we do not see when we take a completed canvas to our local shop and ask them to make it into something wonderful.

If you'd like to see what a professional finisher can do, here's Summer Truswell's latest piece, an Amanda Lawford pillow she also stitched. It is beyond gorgeous!
