Registration is open today through July 1 for the cyberclass "Miss Puff A Very Colorful Puffin." This is taught by Carole Lake and Michael Boren via the Shining Needle Society, using a stitch painted canvas from Pajamas and Chocolate. All the details are below, with plenty of pictures of the finished piece, including the limited edition self-finishing tote bag created to match the canvas.

Charted Mordvin Patterns UPDATED
Labels:

history
This blog has some examples and a link to more charted traditional Mordvin clothing patterns. They'd make a very pretty sampler or perhaps the basis for a geometric pattern, wouldn't they? I can see blackwork backgrounds based on some of these.

Drawn Thread, A Lesson
Labels:

Brenda's posted a lesson on drawn thread on her blog that is fascinating! She taught a class on the subject to her local ANG chapter and kindly shared the lesson with her readers. As scary as cutting needlepoint canvas threads is, it looks like a very do-able project to play with on scrap canvas and the end result is very pretty. Thanks, Brenda!

Jenny of Jenny Henry Designs collects vintage needlepoint books. Her collection is taking over so she's sharing her collection on her Etsy page at a very good price.

My favorites are the Sylvia Sidney and Mary Martin books, but the Maggie Lane books are classics as are the ones by Mira Silverstein for Bargello designs.
