Kimberly Crum Tool Case on Etsy

Before I forget, I wanted to direct you to Kim Smith's (formerly Kimberly Crum Design) Etsy store so you can see the version of the laying tool case I'm stitching that she sold there.  There are a great many photos which I'll find useful when I get ready to make this up into a laying tool and scissors case.

There's a gorgeous needle keep case on the site also.  To see everything, currently for sale and older sold items, go here and browse.

Didn't she do a lovely job?  I hope mine is half as nice!

Scissors Instead of Santa

Yesterday was pretty hectic (which is normal for the Monday after the holidays) and I was too pooped to attach trim to Surfin Santa's edges.  Instead, I added the scissors and started the leaf on my laying tool case.  On the model, the leaf sections are all dark green to emphasize the different slants and sizes of the tent and long tent stitches.  I decided I would use the colors from my border for the leaf and I may leave the space between leaf sections bare. In the model a stem stitch covers the joins.   We'll see how it evolves.

The scissors look great in person (not so good in a photo). I used Kreinik's Antique Gold 221 in size 12 braid to cover as much as possible in the long stitches.  Antique Gold 221 is a mix of copper and gold that seems to have a pink tinge to me.  It looks better with my brown, cinnamon, ecru and pink color scheme than regular 002 Gold does.

I hope to get Surfin Santa finished tonight, assuming I have two hours or so to stitch the braid all around his curves.
