TV: Royal School of Needlework UPDATED AGAIN

Thanks to Donna on Facebook, I have a link to CBS' Sunday morning news profile about the Royal School. I don't know how long this will be up, so head over and watch it as soon as you can.

The news  program is part of the British Diamond Jubilee celebration this weekend.  If you have been watching the flotilla down the Thames like me today, you'll love reading about the flags and banners on the Royal Barge.

UPDATE:  Ada has brief reviews of several of the Royal School books on her blog. If you've ever been curious about the school and its teachings, the Embroidery Techniques book (the one with the green cover) is the book for you.  From slate frames to silk and metal embroidery and crewel, this book covers it all the English Embroiderer way.

Poll: Do You Want Sales and Trunk Show Info?

The one part of Blog writing I don't enjoy is the weekly listings of trunk shows and sales that various shops are having.  It is boring to write and a constant hassle to keep track of the next batch. discover what the discount pricing is, etc. Are these useful to anyone? They rapidly become outdated and I eventually delete the listings from Blog to save space.

I do think the shops like having the extra publicity but if no one pays much attention to these, I plan to stop doing these postings.  So I've set up a poll.  Please let me know if you like having the sales/trunks shows listed or if you don't ever pay any attention to them.

Thanks!

Trunk Shows and Sales

I have another list of trunk shows and sales for you. I'm trying to write one of these a week (or every two weeks if I can manage it).  The Needle House is starting their annual twenty percent off sale (June 2-9).  Everything in the shop is on sale at this price and there are many items even cheaper.  They also happen to have an Amanda Lawford trunk show at the shop, so drop by and enjoy the air conditioning.

Waste Knot has the Kathy Schenkel trunk show (fifteen percent off) until June 23 and they have received their order of Plant Earth threads for you to browse.  Anyone going to the Woodlawn exhibit stops by to visit all the local shops before or after they do the exhibit, so be prepared to see lots of happy stitchers!

Needlepoints Ltd. has the Painted Pony trunk show on display.  The prices drop the more canvases you buy.  They also have Lizzie Kate charts at fifteen percent off.

Bristly Thistle has the Point of It All Designs as their trunk show (twenty percent off).  These canvases aren't often seen online, so have fun browsing.  (Check out Doris Gustafson, one of my favorites, and don't miss the Peas of Mind florals, either.)

Needle Works has the Ewe and Eye trunk show (twenty percent off) at their shop.

Another LizArt Original Bargello

If you are a bargello fan, rush over to LizArt see what Liz Morrow just got back from the framers'--a new original design. Amazing!

Liz charts and sells her original pieces, so hopefully this will be available in a month or so.

Still Another Unique Voice in Needlepoint

Lately I've found several needlework stories about how stitchers express themselves in their needlepoint. The designers of painted canvases also are talking to us through their work. Once of the best examples I know can be found on the Wooly Dreams website.
http://www.woolydream.com/WDtextHowdesign.html

Pull up a chair and listen to Lula Chang talk about her work, her art, how she got started as an illustrator and painted canvas designer, and needlepoint in general.   I do wish her canvases, which are like little jewels, were more widely available.
