Remember the Giveaway

dede Odgen's Tassel Wreath
Don't forget you have until June 5 to enter the One Million Pageviews canvas giveaway.  Those of you who are looking longingly at the dede tassel wreath without a clue how to stitch it, here are a few ideas.  First, check out the gimp that Barbara Elmore added to her tree canvas.  Wouldn't gimp or braided ribbon or perhaps just a braid of thread tacked down look good on this canvas?

Do the background in a lovely pale blue silk with an oval or rounded pattern (Brenda Hart's books have some beautiful oval and round stitches), then tent stitch the red fabric and do the gold stripes in something raised but simple like cross stitches.  The tassels will be the really fun part, stitched in wheat silks in long stitches (or maybe stem stitches), and then with beads, occasional sequins and couched metallic threads on top.  Finish as a pillow with fringed edges and you have something classic but fun to recline on as you ponder your next stitching adventure.
