Knitting Yarn for Needlepoint UPDATED

Carol and I've been talking about threads for needlepoint recently and bemoaning the lack of supplies in her area. She's going to hit up the local knitting shops to see if she can find anything suitable to use in her next NP projects. Before she goes, I hope she gets a chance to read this informative article from Janet Perry on using knitting yarns in NP.

UPDATE:  Judy pointed out this article by Barbara Elmore on knitting yarns in needlepoint.  Thanks, Judy!

Blogger won't let Judy comment this morning so I am posting this for her--

"Barbara Elmore is also very creative and on the forefront of using knitting yarns in her stitching. I am stitching her Happy Rooster canvas, which uses ladder yarn and microfiber eyelash yarn in different places. Most of the yarns she used in the original model have been discontinued, so I have had great fun visiting yarn shops (canvas and color photo of the model in hand) and surfing the net looking at what's out there. I'm still stitching the background in rotation with other projects, so I haven't tried used the yarn yet. But, I have several other canvases where I can imagine using yarns, if these turn out as successful as I think they will. ~Judy"

Thanks for the shout-out. I'm visiting a friend who is a great knitter today and I'm going to see of she has some leftovers for me.

Keep Stitching,
Janet
