Beards

Lots of folks seem to have trouble with faces, but beards also give us fits. I thought you'd like to see these Santas and their beards.  This cowboy Santa is from Melissa Shirley. He uses Loopy (or perhaps the smaller scale Little Loopy) for his beard.  This is a twisted and curled knitting yarn that one couches down to form the beard.  I think my Patchwork Santa's beard is made of Loopy yarn.  (Patchwork Santa is the image on the left side of Blog's page right now.)  I seem to remember it comes in ecru and tan, at least those are the colors I've seen for sale.

This Santa on safari is from Kathy Schenkel Designs.  I'm not quire sure about his beard but it sure looks like Fancy Fur to me.

Beards can be very individual, customized to your vision of your particular Santa.  For help with stitches and thread ideas, use Diana Bosworth's Beards I Have Known booklet, which is the definitive resource on making beards.
