Barcelona

Leigh's smaller version of Barcelona
When you write stitch guides based on models you stitch for designers, the newest things are constantly arriving at your door to be stitched for the next trade show.  A blast of sunshine and hot weather arrived last week in Chilly Hollow, followed soon by the UPS man delivering my latest project--Barcelona.  This is from Leigh Design's ESPANA series, a set of designs based on Spain and named after Spanish cities.  You can see these new designs, introduced at the Dallas trade show last month, on Leigh's website.

If you compare my Barcelona to the one on the website you'll notice differences.  Leigh has revealed the 10x10 versions already but the smaller 6x6 versions aren't out yet.  They will be like my "baby" Barcelona--smaller versions with the elements from its big sister rearranged and simplified for those who want something a bit smaller and quicker.  Regardless of whether the ESPANA piece is 10 inches square or only six, both are on 18 count sunshine yellow canvas.

These are sunny pieces overlaid with gray and black lace.  Think lace mantillas, flowers and sun. I have no idea what I'm going to do with this yet but I'll have to hurry.  Columbus is only about 8 weeks away!

How fun! A buttonhole stitch in a kreink would make the edges of the lace stand out....just my first though
