Judged Needlework Shows in the United States

Denise Beusen has been collecting names of needlework shows in the United States that judging students can use for practice as they earn their certification.  She's put the list online for anyone to see at this link.  It's a PDF file so you'll need Adobe Acrobat on your computer to read the file.

Denise didn't included juried shows in the list as she was looking for practice sites.  If you know of any non-juried needlework exhibit in your area, please post a comment below or email me at chilly hollowat hotmaildotcom and I'll pass the information along to Denise.

By the way, Donna has information on a Wichita Falls, Texas exhibit.

Do you know of a website that explains the criteria used in judging needlepoint? It would be helpful in trying to bring my stitching to the "next level".

Anon, this article by Sandy Rogers might be a help. You'll have to copy/paste it as URLs cannot be made live in Comments. I believe there was an article by a judge in Needle Pointers but I can't find it in the online table of contents listings. I'll keep looking....

I did find this article on the Nordic Needle website. It is not specifically for needlepoint pieces but it certainly covers many things that any needlework judge is looking for. However, your best bet is to find another experienced stitcher and ask them to look at your work critically. If you have someone honest about your skills that will help immensely.

You are welcome. Great question. I'll have to post these links in a regular Blog message.
