Prompted by a question by a friend, I started looking for information about where to get wire for stumpwork and stumbled across this very helpful site. Not only does Elizabeth talk about sources for wire, she talks about the various styles of stumpwork that various prominent practitioners of this art do and how to choose a first project and a book on the topic. She also covers silk ribbon embroidery briefly. Thanks, Elizabeth.

Thanks, Jane. I had no idea it was paper covered florist wire! I've tried thread covered wire (the best, but hard to get), and Memory Thread (works, but is a little floppy), but the florist wire sounds great and can actually be made in different colors using wire and florist tape. I think EGA is offering a Jane Nicholas class in 2015 in Phoenix - yea!
Peggi, I've seen paper covered floral wire (my cousin used to work at a florist's) but I never thought twice about using this stuff in NP. There is wire for beading which is what I've used in the few times I've done this. I used memory wire for the purple flower on top of Belleza's headdress and had no trouble with it. I hope you get to take the Jane Nichols class. She's a GENIUS!
