Holi's Greensleeves (with Beads)

Compare Holi's sleeve to her overskirt and you will be able to tell just how successfully I was able to use DMC cotton floss to fake the Gloriana silk perle overdye from the skirt to the sleeves. Probably I should have used the lightest green shade as background behind the fancy stitches on the sleeve but I like how it turned out so I left it. You probably can't see much of the Kreinik overdyed metallic that made big + shapes with a gold bead in the center all over the pattern but in person they add a lot of sparkle.

My next step is to figure out what colors (probably apple green and reds) to use on the bodice. The original model is visible on this page to see what this looks like in the original blue, gold and white color scheme.

HI Jane! I just love what you've done with the color changes on this one. So festive. I look forward to seeing what you choose for the bodice. I like the turquoise shade in the dress, but then again, turquoise is my "signature" color!

I changed the link to your blog on my blog as I was having so much trouble getting onto the Yahoo version; I also tried leaving 2 or 3 comments recently and they would not go through either. The blogspot works best for me.

Happy Easter!

Glad you are enjoying this piece. I really wanted some color this time, especially after the horrible cold and long winter we have had.

Yahoo 360 sometimes won't let me post, either. It might take 2-3 tries, which is durn annoying, but a lot of people visit there so I want to maintain both sites so everyone can come on over and visit.

I'm glad you can see the beads in the larger version, Pat. I wasn't sure if they would stand out against the greens and reds and the metallic threads. In person they sparkle and add to the effect but it is hard to capture than in pictures.
