While I've been offline due to the big storm that hit the Mid-Atlantic states, lots of things have been going on in the online Needlepoint World. I'll try to catch up over the next few days. July 4th is likely to be a quiet time here (I hope!) after the excitement of the last few days and I'll use that time to catch up. The first item is that Amy Bunger's latest shop newsletter is available in PDF form at this link.

By the way, if your comment didn't seem to go through during this time, that's because I moderate them. I read each comment, deleting advertising and publishing the rest. With me unable to access the Internet, the comments stayed in limbo. They all should be published now.
Please send cooling thoughts to the near 6,000 folks served by our electric coop who still have no electric power. For most of us, that means nothing works--no water, no lights, no tv, no Internet, no food that has to be kept cool, no toilets, nothing. If you happen to have all cordless phones, they don't work either. And this is a mountainous area where cell phone coverage is very spotty and a mostly rural area where there are no services like places to get water to drink or flush your toilets. much less "cooling stations." I was lucky to have figured out where I could get water for flushing toilets as the power was out at all the neighbor's houses, too.
All this makes me appreciate our pioneer ancestors more. My great-grandmother road a mule for two weeks to visit her family once. This distance is about what I can drive now in 3-4 hours.

Hi Jane,
Had no idea you were without power. How terrible. Glad your power is back on. Have a nice July 4th. Hugs from Memphis. Robin
Thanks for the good wishes, Robin. I write blog articles ahead of time as much as possible. You can always tell when Real Life has gotten in the way as the Canvas of the Day doesn't change when my husband or mother are ill, the power is out, or I have to take Beloved to a doctor's appointment.
