Vonna Pfieffer, also known as the Twisted Stitcher, has a blog that teaches finishing.
http://tts-learntofinish.blogspot.com
Some of her tutorials are on flat finished or puffy ornaments, some are for stand ups, there is a tutorial on how to make a bow, etc. Not everything here applies to needlepoint since Vonna stitches cross stitch items on linens and similar fabrics, but this is still a great place to learn how to finish small pieces yourself.

Hi, Jane! Thank you for putting up this link - what a wealth of information. I can't wait to watch these videos and learn something new.
Have fun. When I get past some deadlines I hope to watch some of the videos, too.
I do teach finishing and a whole lot of other things. Thanks for the recognition.
You sound really talented! Thanks for sharing your finishing knowledge. It's always fun to try something new and even if we don't like it, we can appreciate better what the pros do to make our stitching into something wonderful.
