If you ever wondered why on earth finishers charge so much, just watch Vanna Pfieffer (The Twisted Stitcher) finish a standup. It takes her nearly an hour and twenty minutes, plus she doesn't show everything. AND she's very practiced at this.

Vonna Pfieffer, also known as the Twisted Stitcher, has a blog that teaches finishing.

Some of her tutorials are on flat finished or puffy ornaments, some are for stand ups, there is a tutorial on how to make a bow, etc. Not everything here applies to needlepoint since Vonna stitches cross stitch items on linens and similar fabrics, but this is still a great place to learn how to finish small pieces yourself.
