Cape Cod Dogs is Done

Cape Cod Dogs is done! Hurrah!!!!

I was able to capture almost all of the design on the scanner for you to see everything. I hope you enjoyed visiting and watching this Elizabeth Mumford piece from Needlepoint of Back Bay come to life.

It now will be put away until I find the perfect red tote (or maybe a blue jeans jacket) for me to applique it to. This one I want to wear, not frame or make into a pillow.

By the way, you may remember my joke challenge. The Chitownstitcher sent me not one but two jokes based on Two Dogs (or mermaids) walk into a bar.... They were both funny so she's our winner! I'd like Nancy to email me at chilly hollowat hotmaildot com and list things like her favorite color, animal, whether she is a counted thread of a painted canvas person, what thread she loves or always wanted to try, if she collects tools or books or threads or charts, etc. Just tell me privately about what sort of stitcher you are, Nancy. That way I can select something from my overflowing stash to send you. And let me know your snail mail address too please.

Everyone, thanks for visiting and cheering me on through this piece. Your ideas and encouragement mean a lot.

I've already picked up Tony Minieri's Glittering Kimono to catch up on that before I go back to South Seas Fiji. More on that tomorrow.

Jane, beautiful job! I've enjoyed watching you work on this whimisical piece!

You will love working on Tony's Kimono. I am up to date & it's been fun stitching it up!

I'm glad you've enjoyed watching Cape Cod Dogs being stitched, Denise. And thanks for the encouragement on Glittering Kimono. I am really not having fun with the May stitch! It is tricky and there's so much of it! It's a beautiful stitch, though, and will add a lot to the piece assuming I survive stitching it all.

Jane, waving to your and your "sister" in NP

Love it! I hope the search for the perfect tote or jacket is a short one.

Applauding from the mountains! It is a wonderful piece and good luck in the hunting for the piece to applique it to!

Thank you for the nice words, Donna and NCPat. I appreciate it!

There's no rush on finding just the right jacket or tote bag. It will soon be the fall season and I see this as a summer item anyway unless it is on a jacket.

I love this piece! I had never heard of this designer, but wow, and you have done a spectacular job. Can't wait to see Tony's piece. I love your blog, it gives me inspiration.

Doing a happy dance here for you. I've enjoyed the journey of Cape Cod Dogs. I think it has come out so well and you've taught me as well.

I would go with the tote, because if it's on the back of a jacket, unless you walk into rooms backwards, no one would see it until you're leaving. Then they wouldn't comment because you are on the way out. If they do comment, it will delay you getting to the next stop in your busy life, or you won't hear them.

Nancy, you've made some good points on why I should choose a tote bag to display Cape Cod Dogs instead of a blue jeans jacket. Another reason is that I have long hair. Depending on just how long it happens to be at any one time, anything on my back will be partly or completely hidden unless my hair is up or in a pony tail. Hadn't thought about that!

So a red tote bag with a zipper, pockets inside and a place for my keys and cell phone it is! Anyone see something like this?

Nancy, email me your address and details. I need to pick something fab for you this weekend to mail Monday.

Sheena, Needlepoint of Back Bay adapted Cape Cod Dogs from an artist's painting. There are other pieces from Elizabeth Mumford on NP canvas but they aren't listed on NP of Back Bay's website and they don't respond to emails asking about other pieces available.

But it was a cute canvas and I am much obliged to Sara Leigh of Scarlett Threads for buying this for her store and tempting me with it. (Sara, you are the Devil's Daughter!)

By the way, Sheena, thanks for the nice words. I'm glad my pratfalls are inspirational. LOL

That piece was a real challenge . I think it is a tribute to your skills that you actually finished it, let alone so well. It is a nifty piece and should be shown off. Enjoy.

Thanks, Margaret. It wasn't that difficult but then I like the challenge of stitching things publicly. It gives me the push I need to stitch almost every night and finish things.

Fantastic job well done, Jane. All the stitches are so effective and you've totally done justice to this wonderfully whimsical canvas! YAY!

Thanks, Madonna, Jane said while blushing.
