There is a video showing the packaging facility at work making kits on the Elizabeth Bradley website.

NJNA News for February 2025

NJNA's newsletter is back, full of ANG news, information about new designs, retreats, The Woodlawn show, workshops, ANG's Stitch of the Month program, shop news, and word that Kreinik's new machinery has arrived so they are starting to catch up on their metallic thread orders.  It's been a very busy couple of weeks!

Needlepoint Obsession

This year the shop is hosting the first of what they hope will be an annual retreat.  It will be October 18-20, 2024.  Gayla Elliott will be the featured artist (she's designed an exclusive five inch ornament for attendees who wish to purchase a memento) but Sherry Bray, Laura Glazier and Christine Kristen (who owns CBK) will also be attending.  There will be classes, demonstrations, trunk shows, lunch each day and of course, too much fun.  (If that is possible, which I doubt.). Just bring your own canvas....

If you are a fan of silk and metal embroidery, don't miss the three pieces Kay Stanis has posted to her Gilded Edge Facebook page.  Magnificent!

Looks like Kay will be teaching in London for the World Needlework Convention in 2023.

This event is co-sponsored by Inspirations magazine.  The classes appear to be out of this world fabulous!

Pointing It Out Does a Needlepoint Industry Update

Megan and Melissa's latest podcast talks about where things stand in the needlepoint world today.

The pipeline/supply chain may be getting slightly better.  Shop owners may have gotten smarter about how to handle the increased demand, customers are getting used to having to wait longer than usual because nothing is mechanized in needlepoint, finishers are overwhelmed ("Finishing Is The New F Word"--you heard it here first, folks!),  customers are being urged to be flexible, the normal business cycle for needlepoint is disrupted, there are quotas imposed by the painting services so both designers large and small can get their designs made, the pressures on creative souls, whether there will be a fall Destination Dallas, a Pointing It Out retreat, and much, much more.

But the real issue is--Lucy or Ethel?  Who is who?

Shall we vote on it?  LOL

The Curious Cowgirl Goes on a Needlepoint Retreat

Mary the Curious Cowgirl went on a needlepoint retreat.  She and her stitching buddies choose Patricia Sone and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree ornament from DJ Designs was their project.  The retreat itself was at Annie and Company in Manhattan.  They also visited Rita's Needlepoint (which has moved recently and is under new ownership, by the way).

The Zecca Thanksgiving 2017 Retreat Framed

The stitched versions of Zecca's "A Couple of Friends," which was the Bedecked and Beadazzled Thanksgiving 2017 retreat piece are starting to come back from the framers.  They look really good!
https://bedeckedandbeadazzled.com/2018/03/friends/

The piece is whimsical and fun and the stitching a bit over the top with the fun bird stitches.  If you need this for your stitching area, just give the shop a call.

Needlepoint.com's A La Carte Retreat Report

I thought you'd love to hear about the annual retreat that Needlepoint.com holds each year.  This year the retreat was held in Raleigh close to Needlepoint.com's shop.  The canvases taught are from the Burnet and Bradley, Kirk and Bradley and Elizabeth Bradley lines, which are owned by the company that also owns the shop, by the way.  The designers are all different, so there is a lot of variety on offer and plenty of classes you can mix and match to suit your own desires.
