Stitching a House?

Stitching a house?   M's Canvashouse has some darling brass embellishments for doors.  It's hard to tell from the photo but I think most can be sewn on.

Needlepoint Stitch Jewelry

Mary Frances Maker of MFM learned to needlepoint through Greystone Needlepoint, then turned stitches into jewelry in collaboration with Greystone.

You can see a bracelet and three charms here and there are two styles of necklace chains also available-

Needlepoint-themed Charm Bracelets UPDATED

Stitches and Style shows off her needlepoint-themed charm bracelet.

She bought her charms all over but you might check Lynette Palm Beach as they apparently stock them.  You can also browse Etsy and eBay.

If you don't need sterling silver or gold charms, lots of Etsy sellers have sets of themed charms.  You can combine them with beads and alphabet letters to make fun bracelets that spell out things like ANG or stitch or anything that means something to you and your stitching buddies.

Also ask your favorite shop.  About a dozen years ago my local stocked nice sterling silver charms that diagrammed stitches.

UPDATE:  Alex Paras has charms of stitches, many of which are sterling silver.

Bent Creek Charms for Embellishment

The cross stitch chart company Bent Creek has a series of charms to embellish their charts that will work nicely on needlepoint canvases, too.

This online seller has a few different charms from various cross stitch companies, which will give you hints where to hunt for such things.

Brass Charms from By Jupiter

Just learned about By Jupiter, a company that sells brass charms, some with a nickel finish to appear silver.

They sell directly and there is no minimum purchase, in case you need just one special touch for a needlepoint project.

Need a Button or Charm?

If you have a canvas that needs a button or charm, take a look at the range available from Susan Clarke Originals.  Make sure you have your favorite beverage and some time to browse before you click on the link to their website.

I mentioned this because Abigail Cecile asked for a place to find cute charms.  I can't post a comment to her blog —the process involves setting up a new account with SquareSpace which I don't want to do—so I thought I'd just tell everyone and maybe someone will mention it to Abby.

I Need Buttons and Charms. Do You?

If you happen to love adding buttons, charms and fancy beads or trims (or all of the above) to your stitching, or you just happen to need something very special for a piece, you will have to talk to Carolyn Hedge Baird at Chaparral.  I heard someone in the peanut gallery ask, "Why?"  Here's why!

I don't know about you, but I'm lusting after that bunny button, the one with wings!  If you need any of these type things, here's Chaparral's contact information.

If you need a personal consultation, I suggest you use Carolyn's Facebook page (look for Needlepointing in Your Nest, that's Carolyn) to get in touch.  Browse her photo albums to see the huge range of what is available.  No drooling on the keyboard!

Tallis Bag Charms

Ridgewood posted photos of charms meant to be attached as zipper pulls to tallis bags. I think they might have several uses on Judiaca items myself.   Or maybe you just want to add one to your favorite purse!

Katherine's Been Very Busy

Katherine's posted so many interesting things lately that I am grouping them all in one posting. First up, she shows how a problem canvas can turn inspirational again with a change of color and some input from a bystander (in this case, her local shop owner).

That same shop owner has turned Katherine on to a new source of charms.

Finally, Katherine's showing off some great finished New Orleans-themed pieces.

Buttons, Beads and Charms

When the counted thread shop only 30 minutes from me put everything on sale as they closed, I realized just how many buttons, charms and beads that counted thread and cross stitch designers offer these days.

I knew about Just Another Button Company, but I had no idea their line was so large and varied!

My very favorite buttons come from Susan Clarke Originals.

Just Nan has a huge number of charms for her designs that work well anywhere.

The Sweetheart Tree has even more, many of them sterling silver, small and quite delicate. In fact, I own several packages of crystal clear paillettes and plan to use some on the wizard's clothes. My paillettes are very small (they cover about 3 threads on an 18 count canvas at most), faceted on the front like sequins but with flat backs covered in paper to help the metallic shine.

But more about that tomorrow!
