I've finished the large flower in the front left corner of the Cha-Cha canvas. That's it on the left, next to some of the background wide diamonds stitch. What do you think? Do they play nice together?
On the right is the small flower for comparison purposes. Sadly, this canvas is large enough that I can't get a scan of both flowers at once for you to see how they compare. You can't really see how the full flower's stitches are larger and how that makes the full flower come forward and the partial flower recede.
I'm working on the fruit now, but I think I'll stitch one leaf near the large full flower so I have an idea whether I can continuing working wide diamonds as the background stitch. I don't want to leave the miles of background until last.
UPDATE: Glenis requested a photograph of the whole canvas instead of a scan of sections of it. I'm afraid it is very difficult to see detail but perhaps this will help.

Yes - need a leaf, please. I'm not sure the background is sufficiently muted, compared to the flower... a leaf would definitely help. Can you also post a photo, rather than a scan? I'd like to see a full quarter of the canvas, to put the 2 areas in better perspective. Pretty-please?
Glenis - ever the fussy one!
I enhance the colors and contrast of the photos I post here, so remember that what you see of the background stitches is brighter and has more contrast than what the stitches are like in real life.
A photo is a good idea. You lose all the detail but it might give you a better idea of what's going on. I'll do one today, Glenis.
THANKS!
Would still like to see a leaf, but am now a LOT happier with the difference between background and flower. Yes Jane, I trusted your judgement, but you *did* ask for opinions :-)
I like it!
Glenis
I think that the bakground stitch is just right with the flower petals you have done. The picture shows that it does not dominate the piece.
Another tricky piece. I think the pointy background goes very well with the round flower stitch. I'm checking each morning, as always, to see how you pull it off. There are close to a dozen shades in just the bird itself.
Thanks, Margaret. It is possible with light coverage stitches to reduce the number of shades and let the paint show. Of course I may not do that in the bird....
I think the backgroung stitch looks ok. So far....
I am happy to provide a photo for you, Glenis. After all, I value your opinion!
