Ann's blog has a very interesting essay about our stashes and how we feel about them today. Ann is an English academic and mostly a quilter but a stash is a stash! All needleworkers have them. Probably all folks who make things with their hands have them actually. But how we use our stash and how we feel about accumulating it varies widely as you will see.

My stash is nuts stored up for the winter. What's yours?

Loved this article! It made me laugh, smile, think and see myself over and over! People who create are such wonderful beings. Every day I discover new kindred spirits. Good job, Ann. thanks for posting this, Jane!
You are welcome. I enjoyed it very much myself.
Great article. Thanks for the link! I try to view my stash more as a Collection! So it's OK just to look at things and enjoy!
You know, you are right. Collection sounds so much better than the mess my threads are.
Just got to reading Ann's essay. I have three stashes that represent potential...fabric that will one day be quilts or clothes or bags, yarn that will one day be sweaters or socks or shawls, and needlework supplies, chart, kits that will one day all be stitched. Fortunately, my daughters have similar stashes and in time, my stash will merge with theirs and LIVE FOREVER....Mwa-haha Haha!
Wendy, you are scaring me! By the way, do you know about this place? I'm told it is a great place to buy supplies.
