Variations of Ruth

The January newsletter for Bedecked and Beaddazzled is out and as always, Ruth not only talks about shop classes and clubs, she shares insight into the stitches she's currently using.  Pay careful attention to all the mosaic stitch variations she's using in one background.  Very clever!

The Sashiko Sampler (Free from Blue Dogwood Designs) UPDATED

Kay Fite just reminded those of us on Facebook that her free Sashiko Sampler design from 2014 is availble on the Blue DogWood Designs website.  She used Valdani threads but you can use anything from your stash to try out the patterns.  To work the pattern, start with the January 2014 PDF file and work your way forward in time.

Breaking News: Kathryn Molineux Wilson Has Died UPDATED

Small Peacock from Shorebird Studio

Jill at The Needlepointer just reported on Facebook that Katie Molineux Wilson of Shorebird Studio died December 26, 2014. We have lost a great talent and a very nice person, to boot.  If you aren't familiar with her work, here is the Shorebird Studio website.

Above is Katie's Small Peacock, the only piece of hers I've stitched.  It was a gorgeous piece of art and graces our house now.  I feel lucky to have been able to stitch this.

The Stitch of the Month Project for 2015

ANG's Stitch of the Month program for 2015 has started!  This year the project is a dimensional water lily using reversible stitches.  Here is the January lesson.  Each month throughout 2015 the designer Rozelle Hirschfelt will post a lesson so you can stitch a bit each month and finish the project by next January.

The American Needlepoint Guild has run their Stitch of the Month (SOTM) program since 1998.  Here is the main page so you can explore past designs and stitches.

So, what color is your water lily going to be?

Back from the Dead

Because of popular demand, Associated Talents is going to revive an older rabbit design, but only for a limited amount of time.  A local shop can order this until April 1, 2015, then it will be retired again for good!  So if you are a rabbit fan and want this design, get your shop owner moving fast!  (Use the right side arrow to see the canvas up close.)
