True Confessions of a Stocking Stitcher UPDATED

If you are nervously contemplating stitching your first needlepoint Christmas stocking, Maureen Guiffre's new book is for you.   It's called True Confessions of a Stocking Stitcher and it is full of tips to make the stocking easier to work based on the eighteen stockings Maureen has stitched.  Maureen says it is a 8 1/2 x 11 paperback with 178 pages and lots and lots of pictures.  It looks like it is especially useful for realistic canvases of any type.

This shop has a nice brief description of what's inside the book plus photos of the contents.

This link lists the table of contents.

You can pick up a copy at your favorite shop, at Maureen's website, or you can email her at maureengiuffre@gmail.com.  Note that she does stocking consultations and custom stockings as well.

UPDATE:  Maureen's second book is estimated to be available Summer 2026.

Hand Painted Wooden Needle Minders from Rachael Kinnison

You may not be familiar with Rachael Kinnison's hand made frames or her spectacular kits, but if you collect needle minders, you'll want to check hers out.  They are lovely and all based on historical embroidery motifs.

Hopefully by the time this publishes there will still be a few available.

Jolly Red's New Website

Jolly Red, a UK-based needlepoint company that sells mostly kits, has a new look for its website.

It's a great time to explore their traditional wares.  Most of their designs are printed on 10 or 12 count and kitted with Anchor tapestry wool along with a chart to help you when you are uncertain, but you can buy the canvas only.

Amy's Newest Home Study

The fabulous Amy Bunger may have closed her shop in Memphis, but she's still teaching her Home Study classes.  The next one will be based on Melissa Shirley's new Gardening Bookshelf design.

It will be a while before Amy gets her canvas but you can email her to get on her mailing list once this Home Study starts.  She's working with Needle Works in Austin, TX to kit everything.  You can also browse older Home Studies to see more of Amy's work.
