While finishing up the Nordic Snowman, I also have been busy attaching this Elizabeth Mumford reproduction canvas to the front of a corduroy bag I picked up at Target on sale last summer. Remember Cape Cod Dogs?
My husband likes it so much that he wants me to stitch one for the granddaughter's birthday. Which is in less than a month!!!!!

Here is the finished canvas before it was whipstitched into position. The silver starfish are from the local crafts emporium's jewelry-making section. I must have spent $16-17 on the purse and the starfish charms but it does look like a million bucks.
I splurged yesterday on a $12 canvas purse for the granddaughter and instead of working on Stars, I will start stitching a small canvas from my stash to attach to it. Details tomorrow.

I'm glad you like it, Nancy. Attaching a piece of NP to the front of a purse is easy, too. I'd encourage folks to try it.
Donna, I hope it sparks a little interest in NP. We'll see. So far (this is Day 2) no one has commented on it but then I haven't been much of anywhere.

For those who don't know, Sara Leigh is the shop owner who sold me Cape Cod Dogs and also Elmer the little dog stocking. SL is a BAD influence!

I got lucky when I found this purse on sale, e-Rose. The hardest part of adorning a bag with needlepoint is finding the right bag that will complement your piece.
The purse is beautiful!!! Just to let you know, I now have that peice on 18 and larger on 13, with a space to put anyplace you wnat, not just Cape Cod! Elizabeth is not only an amazing artist (I collect her paintings too!) but a wonderful friend. You can find more of her canvases at needlepointofbackbay.com, with lots more coming. Seriously, Liz, I am very glad you allowed this painting of yours to be made into a painted needlepoint canvas. It was great fun to stitch and I am proud to be parading around the grocery store, bank and drugs store carrying it on my purse!
Lisa, I'm glad you like what I did with your canvas. I didn't know it came on 13 count as well as the 18 count I stitched, and I'm glad to hear that there is space to add any geography (although for me this is every South Shore dive I've ever been in).
