Cayce Zavaglia embroiders on a cotton/linen blend with crewel wool. The end results are stunningly realistic portraits. I've never seen crewel like this before! Trish Burr does a fascinating interview on her blog, asking the questions us needleworkers would ask.

Thank you Jane, Zavaglia's work is totally awesome! The interview is very interesting and informative, however I do wish she would not call it "crewel embroidery". It is definitely not "crewel" embroidery, it is embroidery. And just plain unique and stunning!
I guess it isn't really crewel embroidery, it is embroidery using crewel wool. Stunningly beautiful, too. I would like to know what the outside dimensions of some of the portraits are. I think they much be larger than life but I am not sure....
