Anyone who likes to make twisted cords for their pillows and ornaments will enjoy exploring the Japanese braid website. This technique of braiding cords using stands or pillows is called Kumihimo, and like so many other needle and textile techniques, the Japanese have raised it to a fine art. The links on the left side of the page are to articles and the thumbnail photos show off what you can create using Kumihimo. I had a customer do this technique on tree roots and it looks fabulous. I'll try to get a good photo next week and post it.

Our ANG chapter has learned this technique this fall. Our intention is to use it for braid around a small ornament. It's easy once you get the rhythm going. And, you can find the discs at craft stores as part of friendship bracelet packages.
