Mary Corbet has a wonderful tutorial on how to secure a thread when you are stitching a thin line with no place to tie off a thread nearby. She is stitching with crewel wool on what looks like coarse linen or perhaps Aida cloth, but I think this technique will come in handy for us needlepointers at least occasionally.
