Pocito's Fingernails |
I'm not the only person stitching the Day of the Dead canvases that decorate the upper left hand corner of Blog. My friend Janet Moyer is stitching Pocito. Janet has given Pocito a back story that in life she was a glamorous person and continues so in death, so Janet is adding bling to her canvas in a major way. The fingernails you see in the photo above are just one manifestation of this. (The others will be revealed later!) Janet used glow in the dark orange Kreinik for the fingernails because there is so much red on the design already. The fingers and other bones are stitched in Neon Rays+ glow in the dark white.
BeStitched has also stitched the Day of the Dead ladies. If you have a Facebook account you will enjoy seeing their version of the lipstick for Belleza.

UPDATE: BeStitched posted the same photo on their blog as on Facebook, just in case you couldn't see it at FB.

Jane,
It is so exciting to see the Day of the Dead ladies come to life. Thank you for posting the link to our Facebook posting of Belleeza's lipstick. We will be posting a blog about her later today for those who do not have access to Facebook.
Lisa
GREAT! Lisa, I can't wait to see what you are doing at BeStitched with these two canvases. Folks can order kits from BeStitched for them both done in your style, right?
I'll add a note about your blog posting later today once you have it up so everyone can see what you are doing.
Jane,
We have more canvases coming in from Tapestry Fair this week and would love to have others join the fun. We are breaking the class into 3 parts as there is so much to cover. The first class covers the background, bone structure, vest, inside of the mirror and the green/blue flowers on the side. The second class will cover the birds, owls, leaves, and the yellow flowers at the top. The final class will be the the earrings, headdress and remaining flowers as well as her jewels on her vest. This is an amazing piece that we feel very lucky to be stitching. We really appreciate your posts and can't wait to see how all the versions of the Ladies of the Day of the Dead turn out.
