Roger Garrett is the creator and manufacturer of the Stitchmate floor stand, sold under the Cozy Cottage name. These floor stands are favorites of several of my stitching friends, and they are very sorry to have lost Mr. Garrett to cancer at the young age of 64.

Here's a bit about the company. Their website is down now unfortunately.

Here's a nice series of photographs from last year of the Stitchmate. It is beautiful, isn't it?

My condolences to his wife Victoria, and to his family and friends and of course to all my fellow stitchers who love the Stitchmate products. Thanks for letting us know about this, Lenor.

I had been looking for a floor stand and the StitchMate was coming up on top but I got sidetracked and didn't order. Condolences to his family.
I'm sorry you missed out on a Stitchmate, Anon. They looked to be wonderful products.
I too have been looking for that prefect stand. Last year I talked to this gentleman for the longest time about his product. He even said I could put one on layaway but then I wound up going thru 4 operation and so I didn't order my stand. I hope in the future they will be available as I so want this stand. It will be the answer to my long time hunt. May God be with this family as I know he is. Thank you
From all accounts, Roger Garrett was a very nice man and a great craftsman. I hope the designs become available again but there's no telling what will happen. We live in an uncertain world, so I hope that one of the other floor frame manufacturers buys the design to sell them again.
Thank you for posting this. I have a Stitchmate and had placed an order with Victoria around Roger's hospitalization. The couple was absolutely awesome to order through and I love Roger's craftsmanship. I pray that Victoria has much peace and comfort, holidays can be difficult times.
Amen.
Is there anyway I can purchase the stitchmate? I realize the mfg is deceased, but surely his family would want to continue with such a wonderful product.
I don't know. I suspect he was the only person in the family doing this and in that case, no. You can ask I suppose. But I wouldn't imagine that this can continue without him. Otherwise they would have.
I happen to have a StitchMate that I would be willing to part with, should the right buyer come along. My eyes just couldn't handle the fine cross-stitch anymore. The StitchMate is an amazing contraption, a true delight; infinitely adjustible, quality craftsmanship, really beautiful.
Dear Autoharp, if you are willing to part with your StitchMate, I will post about it here. Please tell me what you want for it and if shipping is included in the price. It probably would be good to know your general location, too. If you want to talk to me further about this, email me at chillyhollow at hot mail dot com and I'll arrange a new posting on Blog about it. Thanks!
I wish the family would sell the pattern for the StitchMate to another wood craftsman. Would love to buy one!
I would also love to buy one, even a used one.
I've never seen a used one for sale.
I wish I had heard about this stand earlier. If someone has one to sell I would be very interested in purchasing it along with shipping if need be. The stand I had decided to give up on me and it is time to replace it.
