Stitch of the Month--The Wave

Amy's Tennis Ball
I thought it would be fun to post a very clever stitch I've found online here periodically for everyone to see.  The inaugural stitch is the background of this tennis ball, posted on Facebook by Amy who says the idea came from The Needleworks.

I've seen the same stitch used for the water behind this mermaid.  (Sorry, I don't know who stitched this.)  It skips a row occasionally, but otherwise is identical.  A very similar stitch is diagrammed by Ruth Schmuff as "Darning Pattern Large Wave" in her iStitches Volume 3 if you want to use it on your next project.

Jane, I looked on Amy Bunger's Facebook page and cannot find this diagram. would you share the date she posted it please so I can search it better? thank you

It wasn't Amy Bunger who posted this but another stitcher. And there was no information about the stitch, the stitcher or even the designer of the canvas. Sorry.
