Personally, I look for wide bias tape that's been folded down the middle at places like Joann's Fabrics. Slip it over your edge and sew it down with the machine. Easy!

Great article, it's good to know some good taping ideas, I hadn't thought of the bias tape idea but I'll try it. I normally used gaffa tape but it's quite industrial,
I'd never heard of gaffe tape and had to Google it. It looks to be the same as what we call duck tape here. It will leave a residue on the canvas, I'm sure, but you probably cut that part off before finishing your work. And I'm not sure the residue matters except for pieces that we hope will end up in a museum one day. Like your work!
