Thanks to Park Avenue Needlepoint, I have a video of a needle threader that might be of interest to folks who love gadgets. I am not sure it'll work with the very tiny eyes of beading needles or with a thick thread, but it is an interesting tool and probably useful for those with arthritic hands or eye issues. It doesn't work one-handed, though.

I used this with a quilting needle, really small eye, and it worked fine. My girlfriend gave them to us as a hostess gift.

I'm glad that Dee's threader worked for her. Mine, unfortunately, did not. I purchased 4 of them on ebay (only $1.05, so no loss). Gripping it was painful & left marks on my fingers, and it was harder to see the little hook than the eye of even a beading needle. And, it split the single ply of cotton floss. I seldom require the use of a threader, but I'll stick to the old-fashioned kind. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Gosh, I am sorry to hear these didn't work for you. But I suspect the type of thread has an impact. Sewing thread is a lot sturdier than a ply of DMC cotton floss.
