Horse Country Chic is rolling her eyes at the news stories about younger folk discovering handwork.

I'm rolling my eyes along with her. The impulse to make things is in us all. What's different now is that unlike when I was a kid surrounded by men and women who made all sorts of things by hand all the time as a matter of course, most people today haven't done that.
We needlepointers are very lucky that we can tap into our creative impulses whenever we wish.
