Mythic Crafts' New Trestle and Table Frames UPDATED

You've heard me rave about the beauty of Mythic Crafts's slate frames before.  Mark builds beautiful frames, boxes, thread keeps and needle minders from scratch.  Here's a quick view of the goods.
https://mythiccrafts.com

The company has recently moved from Canada back to England, and the costs involved in a relocation mean that Mark's newest products—trestle stands and table frames plus resin cast needle minders—have to wait until he can presell the goods and invest in new tools and materials.  So he is going to do a fund raiser and have a massive sale on existing products.  Mark is also going to sell slate frames that are finished with Danish oil instead of  8-10 layers of urethane, which is very time consuming to apply carefully, let dry and then sand before the next layer goes on.  These will be cheaper and just as well made, but not finished like high end furniture.

Now is the time to invest in one of these beauties on sale if you have been eyeing them.  The sale lasts until the end of February and will be advertised on Mary Corbet's website tomorrow, so move fast!

UPDATE:  Mary Corbett has written about Mark and his products and the sale.  If you are on the fence, you might want to read what she has to say.

Display Boxes from Mythic Crafts

Mythic Crafts, known for their slate frames, are branching out into all sorts of interesting wooden projects.  Mark's latest venture is display boxes with spaces in their tops for needle work.  Mary Corbet obtained two for review and she loves them!

Mythic has a variety of box styles available on their website.  They are expensive but very very beautiful, and given the cost of framing, they are an interesting and viable alternative for display of your best stitching.

Another Mythic Crafts Special

Mythic Crafts is having another special promotion today through Sunday to promote their embroidery frames.   I got the following note from Mark this morning.

"I'm doing another promo this weekend (probably my last promotion for the year) as I need to make more embroidery frames. I'm offering free laser engraving (worth $17.50) on any made-on-demand frame (which already gets 12% off regular price!) from Friday to Sunday. These will all be shipping before the end of November, so will make a great Christmas gift. Promo is only available on my website (not Etsy). I also have a couple of new "standard" sizes listed, based on the most popular sizes for custom frames this year - this makes these large sizes much cheaper than a custom frame."

Thanks for the heads, up, Mark.  The idea of a personalize frame is intriguing, particularly as these are so beautifully made.  If you are interested, you have the weekend to get in on the offer.

A Special on Magnets at Mythic Crafts

This week I got an email from Mark at Mythic Crafts. Mark's the woodworker who does those fabulous boxes and slate frames.  Mark says,

"I'm going to be doing a promotion on Friday which your readers might be interested in. I have several different strengths of magnets for my needle minders and I'm not sure which strength will be correct for each style of embroidery. So all orders on Friday the 8th of Sept (regardless of value) will get 3 free needle minders ($60 value), one in each strength. I'm hoping the recipients will give me some feedback on the style of embroidery they are working on and which strength they found the best. The needle minders they don't like will make nice fridge magnets I guess? I'm happy for people to leave a comment on the order as to the needle minder style(s) they'd like to receive, or if they just want a random selection (which may also include some unreleased ones). Random selections will likely be the carvings I like the most haha.

I also have a popup on the website that shows up after awhile to offer people a 10% off coupon in exchange for a facebook like, or subscribing to my non-spammy mailing list. They are welcome to use this with their order too."

Here's Mark's site so you can browse and be ready with your order tomorrow.   Happy shopping!

Mythic Crafts Has a New Website—And New Products! UPDATED

Mythic Crafts, the Canadian family business that turns out gorgeous slate frames, has a new website.
https://mythiccrafts.com

And they have new products!  They are now making legs for their slate frames so that folks who need a raised frame can have one by the addition of these little legs.  They are available in two lengths.  Here is what their blog says about these "beading/couture legs."

They also are turning out very pretty wooden needle minders.  The frog caught my eye, but they are all wonderful.  These are available painted or unpainted, depending on what your personal style is.  Don't see one that appeals to you?  Don't worry.  They are making a new design every day for the rest of the year so there is bound to be a needle minder with your name on it eventually.

In the planning stages but out soon are presentation boxes and eventually trestle stands for their slate frames.  And of course they will still make a custom sized slate frame for your stitching pleasure if the standard sizes they make aren't right for you.  Aren't sure what size slate frame you need?  Read their sizing page for help and then contact Mark if you need even more assistance.

Their Etsy site is still active if you prefer purchasing from there.  Right now only the slate frames are available on the site.  Shop their website for everything else.
