JudyAnn Apologizes

JudyAnn Needlepoint recently was asked to paint a Waffle House canvas by a customer who furnished a rough design that was said to be the customer's own work.

Turns out it was actually a design by One Part Whimsy that is currently sold out.  JudyAnn is horrified and apologized to One Part Whimsy.  I know JudyAnn from way back and I am sure she didn't know her customer was trying to get a sold out design by lying to JudyAnn about where the original came from.

If you are the miscreant, shame on you for putting a nice lady like JudyAnn in such a position!

If you are a designer, I urge you to avoid logos or any sort of brand image as the copyright pitfalls are huge.

Introducing the Finishing Fairy

Have you met The Finishing Fairy?  Her name is Amanda Metes and she finishes flat back ornaments, standup with acrylic stands, coasters, and signs.

As a bonus, she does finishing tutorials, some filmed and some written.  Here is her YouTube channel.  Currently she has filmed how to join twisted cord and how to finish a flat back standup with an acrylic stand.

Her website has a free ornament finishing guide in PDF form plus links to her YouTube tutorials.

Her Instagram page is full of examples of her finishing plus she lists recommended products she uses to finish in the "Cutting - Products" circle above the photo area.  If you don't have an Instagram account, she likes:  the Fiskars two sided self healing cutting mat that's 18x24 inches, Fiskars craft knife, Fishars thread snips, 8x12 inch backing boards, and a compass for measuring the backing board for round ornaments.

She also recommends pre-made cording by One Part Whimsy.

Etsy Fun

By accident I stumbled across these charming pottery needle minders on Etsy.  The artist also does buttons and bowls and trays, perfect for embellishment/finishing and for ort bowls or tool trays

This got me wondering what other needlepoint items I might find.  JudyAnn's printed designs are always a delight, whether you like bunnies or shamrocks.

Want a lovely autumnal acorn?

Or a funny crocodile to delight a tot?

Love geometrics or just want an easy basketweave stash buster?  TEW Designs has some gorgeous small rounds in a wide range of patterns and colors,

Want something classic?  This Terry Enfield Japanese-inspired morning glories piece is a wonderful vintage piece.

Etsy is turning into a nice place to shop for needlepoint items,
