Finishing Friday:

Today's finishing is a selection of the unusual to the amazing.  First, Stephanie shows off the small sized Painted Pony angels as tiny stand ups.  I love how the bottom of the needlepoint looks like an overskirt with the oval base showing smaller underneath.

The "amazing" portion comes from Ada Hayden who shows off a selection of finished biscornus and humbugs in a variety of colors.  These are all her Eye Candy canvases, stitched by a bunch of talented folks.

However, I think the unusual AND amazing award goes to Pocket Full of Stitches which has a fun selection of black and white pillows that'll blow your socks off.  The other pillows they showcase are lovely but the black and white ones are dramatic to the max.

I could be wrong, though.  This tiny Barbara Bergsten purse is astounding.  It is either 3 inches square (18 count) or 4 inches square (13 count).  Good things come in small packages, don't they?

New Designs

Kimberly has finished her Mother's Rocker bicornui, a riff upon her Mother's Rocker chart. I think it is lovely! As I understand it, this will be taught in a class Kimberly is doing in Florida. It might be available as a painted canvas later. I'm not sure about that.

Janet Granger has just finished a new set of designs for her miniature doll house kits.  These are all based on Berlin woolwork.  There are rugs, chair seats, cushions, and more--all suitable for a Victorian doll house.  If you are interested, read carefully to see whether Appleton wool or floss is in the kit you like, and if the design is stitched on 18 count needlepoint canvas or 32 count silk gauze.

If you aren't a counted thread person or a sampler fiend, you might not have heard of biscornu patterns. These are oddly shaped pin cushions and they are all the rage among the counted thread set, as Ada Hayden describes here.
