Profiling Jenny Adin-Christie

Today I'd like to profile the needlework of Jenny Adin-Christie, who is a British embroiderer with magic fingers, to say the least!  Kathy at the Unbroken Thread recently took a class (the Minerva Mirror) from Jenny.  Let's start there.

Interested?  Here are some stunning close ups of Jenny's needlework.

Here's an interview, with a nice tip about avoiding magnification whenever possible, plus the story how Paul McCarthy ended up with his own slate frame.

Finally, here's Jenny's website. I encourage you to explore her whitework, goldwork, stumpwork and embroidery.

One talented lady!UPDATED

UPDATE:  Fiber Talk has interviewed Jenny.  Great listen!  Thanks for the tip, Gary.

Kreink Spools Lose Their Labels UPDATED

Kreinik's latest posting is about their struggles to help their spools keep labels in place longer.  It's interesting to learn that their label machine is broken and they are struggling to get it fixed. Mechanics for this sort of thing are no longer available so it's hard on a small business.
http://kreinikthread.blogspot.com/2019/09/about-those-kreinik-spool-labels.html

My spools lose labels occasionally but I just pop the spool and label in a Floss-Away bag and don't stress over it.

UPDATE:  Waste Knot says that they occasionally have to replace the labels on Kreinik spools. The staff use a dab of rubber cement, then hold the spool by the ends till it adheres. It seems to work pretty well.  Thanks, SL!  We appreciate knowing what the shops do to handle this issue.

Anyone else have tips?

A Tour of Cindy's Needle Art

Sheena's been to Canada on a short vacation, and since she was in the Toronto area, she visited Cindy's Needle Art in a suburb of that city.  She met up with friends from Facebook and had a lovely time touring the shop, seeing all the Sew Much Fun models (Cindy's sister designs Sew Much Fun canvases and Cindy stitches them and writes stitch guides for many), and generally enjoying herself.  The photos of the many Sew Much Fun models are astounding!

Here is the shop website.

And here is the Sew Much Fun website.   Ordinarily you cannot order directly from the designer but since her sister owns a needlepoint shop, you can pretty much get any Sew Much Fun canvas you want without much of a wait if you go through Cindy's Needle Art.

Thanks for the tour, Sheena!  It was fabulous!

Sad News about Paternayan

A local Maine newspaper is reporting that Saco River Dye House (now Maine Textiles International) is in legal trouble due to their not being able to pay their rent.  They own Paternayan, so it looks like for now it will be unavailable.
https://www.pressherald.com/2019/03/21/saco-dyehouse-at-risk-of-closure-in-property-dispute/?fbclid=IwAR3NzbWbrfMSkTm0XLaS2-wKx8kJDbQuSHswimgk2NfDzTA_LFl0jzvgjQE

Local stitchers in Maine say that they lost the lawsuit and that the company is in bankruptcy now.  A buyer is apparently in the wings.  Stay tuned.

An Interview with Morgan Julia Designs

The new Morgan Julia Designs website is live!  My favorite part so far (besides the fresh colors and style of the designs—love that elephant design on her Facebook page!—is the interview on her website (second link below).
